VETERAN councillor Keith Bland is the new chairman of Croft Parish Council.
The former county and borough councillor, who was awarded the MBE in 2011 for his services to the community in Cheshire,  has taken over from Cllr Val Allen.
He said: “I am honoured and delighted to be taking over the chair of Croft Parish Council for the forthcoming civic year. I can certainly say that I have big shoes to fill! Val Allen has done a superb job as Chair over the last year.
“I would like to assure the residents of Croft that I am looking forward to representing the village to the best of my ability and hopefully in the next 12 months, with the help of the parish council, residents, businesses and local organisations, produce a Croft Parish Plan which will help us identify exactly what the profile of the village is. Which we can then use to produce an action plan for the future.”
Cllr Bland is also a member of, and former chairman of, Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.
