A UNIQUE organisation is offering valuable support services to ex-servicemen and women in and around Warrington – based at The Gateway in Sankey Street.
The Armed Forces Community Support Hub provides a one-stop shop for the armed forces community in Warrington, Cheshire and the Wirral.
It supports and provides assistance to its service users in areas such as housing, welfare, education and training, health and well being and employment and also runs a number of drop-in centres in the Warrington and Cheshire area, including one recently launched in Halton, in partnership with Widnes Vikings RL Club
The Armed Forces Community Support Hub is a stand-alone charity built upon a unique working partnership between  a number of service and non-service charities and organisations including SSAFA, Citizens Advice Bureau, The Royal British Legion, Defence Medical Welfare Service,  Combat Stress, NHS, Help 4 Heroes, Cheshire Police, CGL Pathways to Recovery and local authorities.
A spokesman said: “We have facilities for service providers as well as networking and partnership working opportunities. We help to support military personnel, early service leavers and veterans (and their dependents/families) who have problems with all welfare issues and mental health, as well as supporting those who want to access education, training and employment.
“Through the Hub’s partners, you can access direct specialist help and support with housing, employment, welfare, health and well-being, training, homelessness, debt and benefits, drug and alcohol issues/dependency and addiction, all under one roof.
“We promote inter-agency working and improved access to services, information and advice for the Armed Forces Community, as well as promoting social inclusion, wellbeing and reintegration back in to Civvy Street, and peer support.”
The Hub is working in partnership with Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Trust, delivering a commissioned non-clinical wrap around support service covering Cheshire and the Wirral for their IAPT ‘Veterans in Mind’ service. The Hub is also working in partnership with Combat Stress to deliver a new bespoke drug and alcohol support service covering Warrington and Cheshire.
Anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, Regular or Reserves (received at least one day’s pay or more), and who needs help or advice, or are facing difficulties in Civvy Street, should make contact by emailing  Gav Jones (Hub Manager/Transitions Lead), direct on [email protected] or phoning the Hub on 01925 246955.
