CONGRATULATIONS to Labour leader Cllr Terry O’Neill on surviving yet another challenge to his leadership at Warrington Town Hall.
It is the third time Cllr. O’Neill has survived a leadership challenge in recent years and now the party has also voted to do away with annual leadership elections at their annual group meeting, in a bid to secure some stability within the group moving forward.
This will now be voted on every four years, bringing it in line with the cycle of local council elections.
Also congratulations to Cllr Russ Bowden on securing the vote to become deputy leader. Cllr. Bowden has had the unenviable task of trying to balance the books during a time of austerity.
Meanwhile young Cllr. Dan Price has been promoted to the Executive Board and has been a great ambassador for the town during the ongoing bid to become City of Culture 2021.
Hopefully we can now see a united Labour Group running the town hall and no more political back stabbing and power struggles – although in the political world we live in, that may be just expecting a little too much!

Wholeheartedly agree with these sentiments. If only Labour could get rid of the elephant in the room. That peripheral figure. Forever on the fringes. Now completely isolated and becoming increasingly irrelevant by the day. If that person stepped down or was to made to step down then peace might at last break out.
