Fingers crossed for Culcheth Community Day

PLANS are in place for a full programme of events for Culcheth Community Day on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1 – with back up plans in the event of inclement weather.

Last year’s event had to be abandoned due to the village green being flooded.

But local councillor Keith Bland says the weather has been kinder this year and is hopeful it can take place as planned.
But if heavy rain does fall there are back up plans to switch the event to the Shaw Street Recreation Ground – although not on the sports pitches!

“There hasn’t been as much rainfall this year so we are hopeful it can take place as planned on the village green,” said Keith.

“But the parish council has a back up plan this year sould things take a turn for the worse. But so far it is looking very hopeful for the village green.”

Showers are currently forecast in Warrington on Sunday and Monday.
