Starlight Ladies Walk a Family Affair for the ‘Instone Gals’

TRAINING is well underway for the “Instone Gals” as women from all over Warrington prepare for St. Rocco’s annual Starlight Ladies Walk.

Lymm is no exception where the ‘Instone Gals’, as their family team is known, are already making the most of the lighter evenings to get out and about and start to clock up the miles for the event on midnight on Saturday June 24.

Mum Deb and three daughters Charlotte, Gabs and Sophie, are putting their best feet forward in memory of Deb’s mum and the girls’ grandma Joyce, who was cared for at St. Rocco’s during the last weeks of her life.

Gabs, who is training to be a nurse, said: “We lost an incredibly kind-hearted lady to Adrenal Cancer four years go. Our beloved Grandma had lots of time for people and taught us so much. She’s greatly missed but her life lessons and generosity are things we will always remember,”

This generosity has clearly rubbed off on the girls, who are walking to raise much needed funds to support patient care at St. Rocco’s.

Gabs continued: “We wanted to say thank you to St. Rocco’s for all the hard work and support of the staff when caring for my Grandma. I’m about to qualify as a nurse and my training has really helped me to appreciate everything they do. My older sister, Charlotte is based in London but we’re sure she’s training hard there too!”

The family decided that the best way to say thank you was to sign up for the Starlight Ladies Walk and raise as much as possible to support patient care, especially given that, as a charity, St. Rocco’s relies on over two thirds of its funding being generated by the local community.

You can sponsor the ‘Instone Gals’ at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/instones or, for a great night out with the girls, sign up for Starlight at www.starlightladieswalk.co.uk. But don’t delay – the early bird offer of £12 ends on April 30!
