LYMM Senior Colts now have two cup finals to look forward to after securing a 12-33 victory at Penrith in the semi-finals of the Raging Bull League Cup.
The team have already secured a place in the the Cheshire Cup Final.
They enjoyed a coach trip up to Penrith RFC at the weekend to play their Raging Bull League Cup Semi-final in glorious sunshine with the mountains of the Lake District as a back drop.
The significant travelling support were heartened by Lymm’s initial dominance with Power crashing over for the first try. However, Penrith replied immediately taking the game to Lymm and driving over to take a 7-5 lead. Lymm’s forwards then applied some pressure themselves enabling Hand to score from (very) close range. Whilst Lymm didn’t really hit top gear, it was pleasing to see the tactics of moving the ball wide at pace paying dividends with Hamer scoring a brace from the wing and then Hull capping things off with a length of the field individual effort. Titherington’s boot was working well, both off the tee, with 4 conversions, and also in open play as Lymm rna out winners 12-33.
The team now have two games left in their Colts’ careers – the Cheshire Cup final against Caldy at Stockport RFC on Sunday 30 April followed by the Raging Bull Cup Final against Chester at Crouchley Lane the following Sunday. The majority of this team have been together at Lymm for more than 10 years and this, their last season, could be their most successful ever.
