Driver arrested after Warrington garage boss tragically killed

A MOTORIST has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision involving well known Warrington garage boss Raf Khan.

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident at Whitley at 7.26pm last night (Wednesday April 19) when a Volkswagen Scirocco and a Kawasaki motorbike were in collision on the A 49 Limes Lane.

Sadly, the rider of the motorbike, Raf Khan, aged 47, proprietor of Warrington Service Centre, from Winsford, died at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 38-year-old man from Tarporley was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 842 of 19 April 2017.
Meanwhile Warrington Service Centre has been closed until further notice.

Mr Khan leaves a wife and 12-year-old son and members of the family have asked not to be contacted during this difficult time.

Mr Khan was a motor cycling enthusiast and was always promoting road safety awareness.

  1. RIP Raf – such a tragedy. My heart goes out to your family and you will be sadly missed by all those who knew you. One of life’s great characters. You were often Warrington’s 4th emergency service and never let me down.

  2. What a sad loss, and under such tragic, needless circumstances. Raf was a true gentleman and the most honest mechanic I ever had the pleasure to know. My thoughts are with his family who must be devastated. RIP my friend
