Rallying call for Scout groups to attend St George’s Day Parade

A RALLYING call has gone out to Scouting and Girl Guide groups across Warrington to attend the annual St George’s Parade on Sunday, April 23.

There are fears this could be the last  traditional parade from Bank Park (the Town Hall), through the centre of Warrington to the Parish Church (St Elphins) by Sainsbury’s, due to austerity measures.

After their annual service, the groups from across Warrington East & West, march back to the Town Hall steps to be addressed by the Mayor.
This is an annual event celebrating St George.

The parade last year featured 1,000 young people and their leaders, supported by two local marching bands.

It is an opportunity to welcome all current members to gather at the Town Hall, from 1pm, all past members are very welcome to attend too.

Members of the general public are very welcome to line the route and cheer these young people, supporting this local tradition in honour of St George.
