Woman, 73, suffers serious injuries after being knocked to floor

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Warrington when a 73-year-old woman was knocked to the floor by a man.

The incident happened on on Monday,  March 20, between 15:45 and 16:45, when the 73-year-old victim was walking along the footpath on Scotland Road.

As she went to cross the road an unknown man barged into her causing her to fall to the floor. The offender stopped to ask if she was okay before walking away.

The victim went to hospital with serious injuries.

The man is described as being white, around 5ft 7 in height, of a medium build and believed to be in his 40s. He had curly ginger hair which came to his ears and a ginger goatee type beard. The man was wearing what seemed like a green uniform which included a green coat top and green trousers with a logo on the top while carrying a large bag on his back.

Anyone who may have seen a man matching this description or have witnessed the assault is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 519 of 20 March.
