WARRINGTON’S singing sensation Mo Adeniran is through to the Grand Final of The Voice while his flatmate Max Vickers sadly fell at the semi-final hurdle.

The two local hopefuls contested the semi finals last night on ITV with the reward of a record deal with Polydor awaiting the eventual winner.

The friends who share a flat in Warrington came through the blind selections, the battles, the knockout and the quarter finals together.

The first up of the Warrington pair was 24-year-old Max, mentored by Gavin Rossdale, performing his own unique and quirky version of the Cures hit “Boys don’t cry”. The former Priestley College student wowed the crowd with his energy filled rendition.

Afterwards Gavin Rossdale described him as “the best front man on the show” and he received high praise from the other judges.

Interviewed on stage Max said that he intends to eventually put together his own band and in his humble manner told how he and Mo, had never expected to get this far and that the odds of two flatmates from Warrington reaching the semi finals was ridiculous and shouldn’t have happened, but it has.

Next up came 21-year-old Mo with a powerful and soulful version of Rag and Bone Man’s “Human”. His stage presence and amazing voice helped him to nail the song and brought the crowd to their feet.

Gavin Rossdale likened the performance to “ a religious experience” and Mo’s mentor , Jennifer Hudson, enthused “ When you sing you go to a whole other place and you take us with you” Asked how he felt performing his act he said with typical modesty “ I’m just happy to get through it and not mess up”

Sadly only one of the friends made it through to the grand final with Max being the unlucky guy to go out of the competition. He said of missing out “It is what it is and I am thankful to have made it this far. Mo is in the final though”.
