Golf course house wins approval

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a five-bedroom house overlooking a golf course – in the face of local opposition.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council opposed the scheme put forward by Frank Phillips Builders on land adjoining Leigh Golf Club’s course at Culcheth.
They claimed the proposed detached house did not harmonise with the street scene in Brookfield Road and were concerned at the lack of information on drainage and no structural information about a proposed basement.
But they said they had no objection to a bungalow being built on the site.
The borough council’s development management committee heard the site was part of the garden of an adjoining h ouse. It contained two small trees and a hedgerow and a public footpath ran along its northern boundary.
An earlier proposal for two dwellings – one of them single-storey – had been granted on appeal but had not been proceeded with.
Officers recommended the plan be approved – and the committee agreed.
A condition was imposed that the footpath should not be obstructed.
