UPDATED:THE A49 at the Stretton roundabout, Warrington, has been re-opened following Storm Doris.

The road was closed  from the Stretton roundbaout to Grimsditch Lane for more than a day following damage to power cables caused by falling trees.

The delay was caused due to the length of time required to make power cables safe.

  1. Well done to the police and other services who dealt with all the issues caused by ‘Storm Doris’ yesterday. They certainly seem to have had a very busy day.
Sad to see a large tree lying over some of the graves in St Thomas’s Church graveyard today as I drove past. It looked like it a lot of it had perhaps been carefully cut down though so hopefully there wasn’t a lot of damaged caused to headstones and graves of those ‘resting’ 🙁 Thank goodness it wasn’t any other very large trees right next to the church though especially as the Church roof was replaced not so long ago and also a lot of other work to strengthen and renovate the tower etc. Blimey they would have flattened it.
Perhaps they all need cutting lower just in case of future storms and the huge amount of damage they could cause if they ever fell EEK !!
