Large snake found dead in road at Burtonwood

A WARRINGTON schoolboy was shocked to find a large dead snake in the road at Burtonwood.

Harrison Sutton, aged 14, was riding along Tan House Lane, Burtonwood, Warrington, earlier today when he spotted the reptile, which appeared to have been crushed at the road side, possibly by a passing vehicle.

The snake, which is about 4ft long, is believed to be a Boa Constrictor.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “We’ve done a quick search for missing snakes in Warrington – but as we haven’t got a search criteria for missing snakes – its not the easiest thing to find!

“From what I can see we don’t seem to have had any reports.”

Do you know anyone who has lost a snake recently? can you identify the species of snake? If so please email [email protected]

    • Why didn’t someone report or move it before now then if it’s been there for a week? It looks big and was probably just dumped by irresponsible owners. Shame it died the way unless it was already dead before it was hit….

  1. this is a boa Constrictor not a python. please learn how to properly identify these animals before posting, you make yourselves look very incompetent, and I know it’s a boa, I breed them.

    • Who’s incompetent? Do you mean the reporter or the police?
So what sort of Boa is it? There are different breeds as you know and the story asks for someone to identify what it is so maybe you could help them and be more specific. Might even help find the owner.
As a breeder are you a responsible one who vets people buying your snakes? So many buy online or via local reptile shops without fully understanding how much care they need or how big they grow. People also simply get bored of them and give them away or just release them.
Looked to me a lot like an White Oak ‘Grey’ Rat Snake) by the way…….
