40 object to homes plan for wooded site

A PLAN to build nine detached houses on wooded land at Culcheth,  Warrington, is to be put to borough planning chiefs next week.
The proposals by Evoke Homes will be studied by members of the development management committee.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council had objected to the scheme and more than 40 residents have also written letters of objection, mainly on the grounds of  loss of a greenfield site, over-development,  out-of-character with the area and traffic and access issues, loss of protected trees and wildlife habitat.
But three letters supporting the scheme claim the site – formerly occupied by an old building known as the Tithe Barn – is an eyesore.
The parish council argues that the scheme is little different to one refused in 2014 and again lost on appeal the following year.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
