Fire crews rescue sheep from Lymm Dam

FIRE crews came to the rescue of a number of sheep after they got into difficulties in the water at Lymm Dam.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue’s Rope Rescue Unit and supporting vehicle from Knutsford, a fire engine from Penketh, fire engine from Warrington and a fire engine from Stockton Heath assisted in the rescue.

The Service’s rope rescue unit and swift water rescue technicians used rafts to rescue the animals and bring them on to dry land.

All the sheep were rescued safely and handed into the care of the farmer.

  1. Poor things, I bet they were scared stiff. Well done to the rescuers 😀 I hope all the sheep are ok… you’d think with all that heavy wool they’d just sink like a brick and be gone in a flash 🙁
