Pregnant women to benefit from maternity pilot

Pregnant women in Warrington are to benefit after NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group was declared as one of seven pilot sites to be part of NHS England’s national transformation of maternity services.

The Maternity Choice and Personalisation Pioneer pilot marks the first step in implementing recommendations from the national maternity review Better births.

Warrington will be a forerunner in finding new ways of working to transform maternity care for the benefit of expectant mothers.

Dr Dan Bunstone Chair of NHS Warrington Clinical Commissing Group and local GP at Chapelford Medical Centre said: “Across the country there is too much variation in the quality of maternity services.

“Women are too often being told what to do, rather than being given information to make their own decisions. We are delighted to have been chosen to take part in the Maternity Choice and Personalisation Pioneer pilot to work with partners towards rectifying this and empowering women to take control of their care and who provides it by giving them the information they need to make informed choices.”
