Five years of success for Express Arts theatre company

A  SELECTION of events are taking place this year to celebrate the 5th anniversary Warrington based theatre company Express Arts.

To kick start their celebrations Express Arts held a Day of Discoveries event during February Half Term for 30 young people in the community. Funded by Warrington Borough Council Central Fund, and supported by Neighbourhoods in Warrington during the day young people experienced three different art forms including drama, mask making and puppetry while gaining a Discover Arts Award, a national recognised qualification.

Express Arts started back in 2012 when they launched a youth theatre for ages 12-16 at the Pyramid Arts Centre. Since then they have gone from strength to strength, with opening a Junior group for ages 7-11 in 2015 and last year started a youth theatre at Lymm Village Hall.

The organisation has also recently been awarded funding from Heart of the community fund, Warrington Voluntary Action and the Aviva Community Fund, bringing more creative opportunities to young people in Warrington.

Hollie Wimpenny the Co-Director said: “I am very proud to be part of this theatre company, our motto ‘Be Creative, Be Confident, be Yourself’ encompasses everything that we believe in, helping young people to realise their potential and I am looking forward to seeing what the next 5 years will bring.”

Their next special event will be their annual youth theatre performance this year being ‘Great Expectations’, which will be performed on Saturday 29 April at 2.30pm in the Studio Theatre, Pyramid Arts Centre.

Tickets are available from the Pyramid Box office, Adults £7 and Child £5.
