THE blaze which ripped through Parry’s Motor Parts at Latchford, Warrington during the night is suspected arson.

Police are now appealing for information following the suspected arson attack on Wednesday 2 February, shortly after 11:15pm when police were notified of a fire at Parrys Motor Parts on Common Lane, Warrington.

Officers attended the scene and road closures were put in place to ensure the safety of the public.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and worked tirelessly to tackle the fire, which was extinguished this morning (3 February). An investigation has been launched and officers from Warrington Local Policing Unit are currently carrying out a number of enquiries in a bid to trace those responsible.

DC Richard Kennedy said: “Entry was forced into the premises and we believe the fire was started maliciously. Arson is a serious crime which can have devastating impact on victims. Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the fire.

“We are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry and I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously. If anyone believes that they have any information that could assist with our enquiries please come forward.”

Lynsey McVay, Service Delivery Manager for Warrington said: “Firefighters battled to extinguish this fire and worked extremely hard preventing it from spreading. Due to the size of the blaze crews set up a relay system to enable them to get sufficient water to the site from nearby sources.

“It is suspected that this fire was started deliberately, so we are working closely with our colleagues at Cheshire Police to establish the cause of the fire and would urge anyone with any information to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 1098 of 2 February.
Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.

  1. Crikey that was one big fire. Amazing that the other Parry’s buildings next to it are still standing and look to have no damage at all. A huge well done to the fire brigade for their swift action and keeping it all under control.

Awful to read that it was arson though. Why do people do things like that !!! 🙁
