BEN Harrison’s Warrington Wolves testimonial passed with double disappointment for the home fans, as they were beaten 12-0 by Huddersfield Giants.

A 2,198 crowd at the Halliwell Jones Stadium may have come along to witness the debut of new signing Kevin Brown, bought from local rivals Widnes Vikings over the close season, but the England stand-off was left out due to a hamstring injury.

Both sides fielded fairly strong line-ups, with Mike Cooper making his return to the primrose and blue following his stint in Australia, while new signing from Wigan, Dom Crosby, also started.

The game, in honour of long-serving forward Harrison, who hasn’t even been given a squad number by the Wolves this term, struggled to get going and the first half ended completely scoreless.

The fans who braved a chilly Wednesday night finally got to see some scoring action on 47 minutes when Ryan Brierley went over a converted try.

Warrington were guilty of plenty of dropped ball, and the game was put beyond them 10 minutes from time when Kruise Leeming dashed over under the posts, with Danny Brough adding his second conversion of the night.

It was the Wolves’ final hit-out before they open the Super League season with a trip to Catalans Dragons on Saturday week.

Their next home game comes in the World Club Series against Brisbane Broncos on Saturday February 18.

Wolves: Johnson, Russell, Evans, Atkins, Lineham, Patton, Gidley, Crosby, Clark, Sims, Westerman, Hughes, Cooper. Subs: Dwyer, Savelio, T King, Blythe, Mitchell, Wilde, Livett, Moran.

Giants: McIntosh, McGillvary, Cudjoe, Mellor, Murphy, Brough, Brierley, Ikahihifo, Leeming, Ta’ai, Ferguson, Lawrence, Hinchcliffe. Subs: Symonds, Wakeman, Roberts, O’Brien, Clough, Mason, Wood, Ormsby, Smith.
