Wolves in terrific shape after tough pre-season

WARRINGTON Wolves’ boss Tony Smith believes his squad of players are probably in their best shape ever following a tough pre-season as they prepare for another season of challenging for silverware.

Smith is delighted at the way his players have looked after their bodies during the close season and the way they have responed to training, with a tough 10 day camp in Tenerife.

But four of his squad, skipper Chris Hill, Stefan Ratchford, Kevin Penny and long term absentee Ben Currie will all miss the start of the season as they recover from various operations and injuries.

Meanwhile Smith is excited by the club’s new signings, especially with three of the four being “Warrington boys.”

Smith expects former Widnes skipper Kevin Brown to bring some of the consistency which was lacking last season, to the team, especially with his leadership skills.
