VIDEO & PICTURES: Thousands of people packed into Lymm village for the annual Dickensian Day.

Despite over cast skies the rain held off as Town Crier Peter Powell led a parade from the Lymm Hotel into the village centre as thousands lined the streets.

Around 250 Santas from Lymm Runners also joined in the event with a 5k “Santa Dash” adding to the festive feel of the community occasion.

Youngsters from local schools entered into the spirit of the occasion wearing fancy dress and were joined in the parade by Father and Mother Christmas on the Rotary Float, vintage vehicles and a steam traction engine.

The Festival has been running for around 30 years and is backed by Lymm Parish Council and various community groups and organised by volunteers chaired by Steve Harper.
