School to get new sports hall

TOWN Hall planning chiefs at Warrington have approved proposals for a new, two-storey sports hall at St Gregory’s RC High School.
The plan will also see the school convert the existing sports hall and adjoining areas to form 13 classrooms, three science labs and an additional assembly hall.
External alterations in connection with the conversion will include windows to serve the teaching accommodation and a single storey flat roofed infill extension to form one classroom.
There will be a two-storey flat roofed extension to form a stairwell and entrance to the new classroom accommodation.
The new sports hall will prove four indoor courts with changing rooms and showers, a store, plant and fitness area.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee agreed that conversion of the existing sports hall would improve the appearance of the school complex and the overall scheme would not adversely effect neighbouring properties.
