Question mark remains over future of Lymm Post Office

A question mark remains over the future of Lymm Post Office – THREE WEEKS after its sudden closure.

Villagers were left shocked and stunned when the village centre Post Office suddenly closed for business around November 16th due to “exceptional circumstances.”

It is understood the former owners had gone into administration.

Local councillor Ian Marks said: “I realise that the closure of the Post Office is due to unfortunate circumstances but people are asking me all the time what is happening.

“I am very disappointed that the company has not been able to provide us with more information. We are in the run-up to Christmas when everyone needs the Post Office but it is looking highly unlikely anything will happen until the New Year. Having to go to Altrincham to collect your parcels is highly inconvenient.

“A statement on what they are doing and when something might happen would be really welcomed by local residents,” added Cllr Marks.

After being contacted for an update on the situation the Post Office said there was currently no further information on the matter and the original statement still applied.

The original statement from a Post Office Spokesperson said: “We can confirm that due to circumstances beyond our control Lymm Post Office, Harrisons of Lymm, 2 The Cross, Lymm WA13 0HP has temporarily closed.

“We know how important Post Office services are to people in Lymm and we are committed to maintaining services in the area. We will continue to work hard to restore service in the area as soon as possible.

“In the meantime any customers wishing to access Post Office services may do so from any convenient Post Office branch, including:
• Statham Post Office, 61 Albany Road, Statham, Lymm WA13 9LT
• Broomedge Post Office, 286 Higher Lane, Broomedge, Lymm WA13 0RW”
