Guitar and flute duo will cross musical boundaries

FORMER Lymm High School student Meera Maharaj  is bringing her flute and guitar duo to play at the United Reformed Church in Lymm tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7.30pm as part of Lymm Festival’s Winter Warmers programme.
Now in her final year at the Royal Northern College of Music, Meera, flute,  performs in the Meraki Duo with her friend, James Girling, guitar, who recently won the college’s prestigious Gold Medal award.
No stranger to fundraising, Meera has run successful concerts for the last three years in aid of Warrington Foodbank, but this time the concert is in support of the vital work that Medecins Sans Frontieres does, particularly in war-torn countries like Syria.
In keeping with the theme, the musical programme also crosses borders and genres, with an enjoyable and accessible mixture of styles from around the world.
Meera saids: “Please come along to be entertained and at the same time to support a wonderful charity who unhesitatingly work in the most appalling situations around the world saving lives and braving the worst of conditions.”
