A festive fairground has returned to the former Mr Smith’s site at Warrington in the run up to Christmas.

Warrington based family Silcock’s have again returned to their roots with a temporary fairground on the site of the former nightclub and Ritz/ABC cinema, which was demolished following a blaze last year.

The opening night this Thursday (December 8) will be supporting the charities of Mayor Cllr Faisal Rashid.

Fairground owner Arthur Silcock said: “Hopefully the weather will be better than last year when it rained pretty much every day!

“We are again coming back to our roots as our first ever fairground was on the old potato market in the town centre.”

“It will be bigger and better than last year with a variety of fairground rides.

“We’ve been operating fairs in and around Warrington for around 100 years now,” he added.

The fair will be open from 4pm until late from the 8th to the 15th when it will open from 2pm every day until New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31.
