WARRINGTON Town maintained their push for the play-offs with an impressive 0-3 victory away at Frickley Athletic.
Warrington took the lead in the 37th minute after some patient build up play as Robinson’s sharp ball was laid off by Hattersley for Harries to finish from 20 yards to lead 0-1 at the break.
Town extended their lead on 64 minutes when the lively Ilesamni managed to find the back of the net when his first effort was blocked on the line.
Then on 67 minutes Warrington ensured all three league points as Metcalfe’s cross was headed home by Hattersley, completing a hat-trick of first time scorers for the club.
It was a dominant display from Warrington which suggests that they will still have a major say at the business end of the table come April.
Manager Paul Carden will have been impressed by the way his side stuck to their guns and played football, despite a bobbly pitch and the threat of things boiling over in the second half.
For all their early possession, they failed to create a great deal in the final third in the first 20 minutes, with a scuffed shot from Lewis Codling about all they could manage.
But it felt like the pressure was building, and Hattersley almost claimed his first goal for the club as he flicked on Eddie Toner’s corner, only for a defender to head it off the line.
Toner had a couple of free-kicks delivered from the left, won by Scott Harries, that came to nothing, before Harries himself broke the deadlock, firing home off the crossbar from 20 yards with his weaker left foot.
The deserved lead could have been doubled by the break, Toner running over Codling’s lay-off for Hattersley to curl over the bar when he would have wanted to do better.
The pattern of the game didn’t change after the break, and the points were made safe shortly after the hour mark. Codling fed Ilesamni who rounded the keeper, only to have his shot blocked on the line, though he kept his cool to find the back of the net with the rebound despite cries for a pass around him.
And a good day all round was completed when man of the match Hattersley finally broke his Yellows duck, heading from Metcalfe’s cross from the left.
The victory took Warrington to sixth spot in the table, just one point off the play offs.
