Winwick Road re-opened following collision

UPDATED: WINWICK Road, Warrington, has re-opened following a road traffic collision which caused traffic chaos in the town earlier today.

The RTC occured at around 14.00pm today resulting in the closure of the northbound carriageway of Winwick Road heading out of town at the junction of Kerfoot street, causing heavy congestion in both directions.

Firefighters attended a vehicle, which was leaking fuel and smoke from under the bonnet.

One person was taken to hospital before crews used environmental grab packs to mop up fuel left on the road, which eventually re-opened at around 15.40pm.
