THE annual Lymm Dickensian Christmas Festival community event and Santa Dash will take place on Saturday, December 10.

The Lymm Runners Santa Dash will kick start the free festival in and around the village featuring a multitude of stalls, displays and entertainment suitable for all the family.

Plenty of stalls have booked for the event, representing many local societies, charities and businesses. Stalls will be located in the Village Centre, Village Hall, Maple Lodge, Youth Club, Lymm Methodist Church, and surrounding locations as well as an exhibition of paintings and hand-painted cards by local artists in the Village Hall.

The parade will start at 1.30pm and be led by Town Crier, Peter Powell. The parade will feature a traction engine, vintage cars, bands, schools and entertainers.

Organised by Lymm Cruising Club, the Illuminated Flotilla is worth the wait. Watch a series of canal boats lit up passing by the village. Please note: this is Subject to Weather Conditions.

Meanwhile Lymm Runners are gearing up for their biggest ever Santa Dash when 250 Santas run through the village on Dickensian Day, with the 1000s of onlookers lining the pavements!

The Lymm Runners Santa Dash  will open the parade in a colourful flash of red and white. Now in its 3rd year, the Fun Run creates a buzz at the start of the procession. Entry is open to Fun Runners aged 10+ capable of completing the 5km course.

The start is outside Brookfield Surgery on the canal bridge and leads the Dickensian Day Procession down Eagle Brow and through the heart of the village. It is a Fun Run rather than a “race” so runners are encouraged to jog down Eagle Brow and through the village to really take-in and enjoy the special atmosphere for a unique run experience.

There will be a free park and ride on a vintage bus from Lymm High School (WA13 0RB) from 10.00am to about 5.00pm so there is no need to worry about parking.

Entrants will be given a special Santa Suit as part of the entry fee so everyone will be dressed for the occasion. Wear some running gear underneath as it’s a 5km run; through the village to the Trans Pennine Trail to Heatley and back along Reddish Lane. The finish line is at Sow Brook where runners will receive a finishers souvenir. It’s a short walk from there back to the village to take part in the rest of the Dickensian Day festivities.

Cost to enter the Santa Dash is Child/Youth 10 – 14yrs £8.00, Adults 15yrs+ £10.00
Includes: Santa suit (to keep), fully marshaled route, event insurance.
