Office plan approved despite objections

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for an office development despite opposition from neighbours and councillors.
The two-storey office building – the upper floor of which would be used for storage – can go ahead in Park Road, Great Sankey, members of the borough council’s development management committee decided.
Great Sankey Parish Council had opposed the scheme on traffic issues and there were also objections from 11 neighbours.
Main worries concerned traffic and parking, with parish councillors arguing that the area was already heavily congested with insufficient parking for existing businesses.
Residents were also worried about noise, litter, loss of privacy and loss of daylight.
The committee was told the site had a brick wall at the front and high gates at the rear, together with an access road. The ground floor would be used for offices and the first floor for storage – either for the occupant of the ground floor or for the adjoining hot takeaway food shop which was owned by the applicant.
Parking for staff would be at the rear.
Planning officers recommended the scheme be approved. They said the proposal provided an opportunity to develop a site in a highly sustainable location for a use which would generate employment and contribute towards the growth of the local economy.
The committee voted to approved the scheme.
