Warrington Town’s new boss looks to tackle injury crisis

AFTER welcoming Craig Robinson back to Warrington Town as his assistant manager one of the first tasks for new manager Paul Carden is tackling the club’s injury crisis .

Working alongside first team coach Mark Beesley, Carden says the addition of “Robbo” will help cover the team from all angles.

“As players I was a centre mid, Robbo was a centre back and Mark was a striker, so we have got it pretty much covered from all angles.

Those currently out injured include centre back Daniel O’Donnell (achilles), midfielders Danny Ventre (hernia) and Ged Kinsella (back) alongside striker Ben Deegan (broken jaw).

Former Altrincham striker Danny Hattersley has already been drafted in to provide a physical presence upfront in the absence of Deegan, who will be out for at least another four weeks.

Carden has also brought in experienced goalkeeper Tony McMillan, aged 34, from Stalybridge, to provide cover/competition for regular shot stopper Karl Wills.

Looking back at last weeks defeat to Nantwich in the FA Trophy Carden said: “I thought for the first half hour we looked bright, created chances and did well. But when they scored it appeared to knock the stuffing out of us.

“In the second half we didn’t really look like getting back into it and fitness was an issue, with some players not having much training under their belts. At times we we run ragged.”

He added: “We have got a number of good players out injured and we need to address this in the short term as we are light in midfield and at the back. We also need to have competition for a place in every position on the pitch.”

Warrington are back in action when they travel to Stafford Rangers tomorrow (Saturday) kick off 3pm.
