MAYOR of Warrington Cllr Faisal Rashid is seeking a perfect performer or a star on the pitch, a date at the Town Hall could be in store for you.

The Mayor has officially opened nominations for his second Mayor’s Achievement Awards, which will focus on ‘Sport and Performing Arts’.

It follows the success of the Mayor’s first Achievement Awards ceremony, held last month, which saw scores of volunteers descending on the Town Hall for a celebration of the valuable work they do.

Now, the Mayor is calling on local people to submit nominations for the latest round of awards. You can nominate anyone for their achievements in any sport or performing art – from players, dancers and singers to their trainers, teachers, coaches and mentors.

Nominations are open until 30 November 2016. All the nominees will be invited to a special ceremony at Warrington Town Hall on 27 January 2017, where the Mayor will announce the winners.

Cllr Rashid said: “After the fantastic success of the first ever Mayor’s Achievement Awards, I’m looking forward to many more local heroes and heroines getting the recognition their efforts and achievements deserve.

“Warrington has a proud tradition of excellence in sport and performing arts – and this event will give us the opportunity to celebrate it. If you know somebody who has been a shining star on the field or on the stage, or if you’d like someone who inspires others to be recognised, make sure you nominate them!”

To make a nomination, complete an online form by visiting www.warrington.gov.uk and typing ‘Mayor’s Achievement Awards’ into the search box.

You’ll need to tell us:

• Which category you are nominating the person for
• Your name, address and contact details
• If you’re nominating someone else, their name, address and contact details
• Why you think this person should receive the Mayor’s achievement award
