Facebook appeal helps catch indecent exposure offender

A man has been charged with three offences of indecent exposure in the Centre Park area of Warrington, after being identified following a police appeal on social media.

The three instances of exposure are alleged to have taken place in May 2015 in the Centre Park area of Warrington (off Chester Road).

The man has been charged after a long and protracted investigation involving video identification procedures and assistance from the force technical services staff.

A Facebook appeal made at the time, with a photograph that was taken of the alleged offender by one of the victims, resulted in a member of the public providing police with a name – which allowed them to make an arrest.

A police spokesperson said: “This is an excellent result and we are grateful for the assistance of the public with getting the investigation to this stage.”

The suspect has been bailed to court and will appear in late November 2016.
