ANOTHER business leader has urged Warrington Borough Council to put the town before politics over any future devolution deal.
Colin Daniels, Chief Executive, Warrington Chamber of Commerce & Industry, has joined Cheshire Business Leaders Vice Chairman Paul Taylor, in condemnation of proposals being put forward by a council Task Group, suggesting Warrington should choose Liverpool over Cheshire.
Mr Daniels said: “Not for one moment can businesses in Warrington support the idea of the Labour Group on the Council that Warrington joins with Liverpool rather than Cheshire.
“This decision should not be about the political colour of the Mayor, but be about the economic development of Warrington which will be seriously impaired by such a decision.
“To date the economic success of Cheshire and Warrington can be seen and measured and that success will only continue with Warrington being part of the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprises Area and definitely not as part of Liverpool.
“The Council needs to put Warrington and its successful businesses first,” added Mr Daniels.
Last week Mr Taylor, who runs Taylor Business Park in Warrington and sits as Vice Chair of the Cheshire Business Leaders, also voiced his concerns over any possible deal with Liverpool over Cheshire.
