Former Helsby High student in Team GB at Rio

FORMER Helsby High School student Nathan Maguire is one of the 264 athletes in Rio de Janeiro representing Team GB in the Paralympics.
He is listed for the Men’s 4 x 400m Relay, the first round of which is on Friday, September 16 at 4.21pm with the final the following day at 9.30pm.
Nathan returned to the school recently to present prizes to Year 9 students and gave an inspiration talk on how he contracted a childhood illness which left him using a wheelchair through his time at Helsby, between 2008 and 2013 and later in Higher Education.
Parallel to this Nathan developed his sporting excellence through many hours of devotion and commitment, including the support of his family,  representing his country in athletic events and competing in the London Marathon were some of the highlights.
