Hit-and-run victim pinned against wall

POLICE at Warrington have appealed for information from the public following a hit-and-run collision at Birchwood which left a man with serious leg injuries.
The incident was at approximately 4pm yesterday (Wednesday) when a 21-year-old man was walking along Redshank Lane.
He was hit by a blue Vauxhall Vectra.
The vehicle mounted the pavement and pinned the victim against a wall, the driver then reversed and drove off at speed in the direction of Admirals Road.
As a result of the collision the victim, who is from the Warrington area, sustained serious injuries to his leg and was taken to Wythenshawe hospital by air ambulance. His condition is currently described as stable.
The driver of the vehicle is described as a man, of stocky build with shaved blonde hair.
Investigating officer DC Darren Burns said: “This was an extremely serious incident and I have no doubt the offender drove into the victim with the intent to cause severe injury.
“As a result of this incident the victim will require several operations and I am keen to trace the person responsible so that they can be brought to justice.”
