POLICE are appealing for information after a cash machine was scammed in Lovely Lane, Warrington.
They want to trace three men who were standing behind a woman when she inserted her card into the ATM machine outside a supermarket on Wednesday evening just after 7pm.
When she put her card in the machine it made a strange noise and then instructed the woman to remove her card.
Three men were standing behind the woman – and police want to speak to them to ask for help with their enquiries.
All three were in their early 20s or late teens. One was riding a black framed bicycle and one had a black, medium sized dog with him.
The one with the bicycle was slim with short light brown hair and was wearing white t-shirt, black jacket and dark trousers and spoke with a local accent.
A second man was slim with short light brown hair and dark clothing and also had a local accent.
The man with the dog was wearing light clothing.
PC Jacqueline Starkey said: “I want to remind members of the public to be vigilant when using a cash machine and to be aware of any suspicious activity around cash points.
“When using an ATM, it is highly recommended that people conceal their PIN number from view as the fraudsters rely on either seeing your PIN number or catching it on devices which they have deployed.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident take place, know the identity of the men described or can help police with their enquiries is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 775 of August 10.
Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
