ONE of the men that helped fire Warrington Wolves to Wembley at the weekend, Jack Hughes, has committed his future to the club until 2019.

Hughes, 24, joined the club on a two-year deal from Wigan at the end of last season having spent much of 2015 on loan at fellow Super League club Huddersfield.

He scored the first try and was man of the match as the Wolves thrashed Wakefield 56-12 in the Challenge Cup semi-finals at the weekend, to book a Wembley date with Hull on August 27.

Head Coach Tony Smith said: “I am delighted that Jack’s re-signed. He’s a pleasure to work with. He’s a very good professional and I have enjoyed watching his development.

“He’s been a strong, consistent performer for us this year and while he’s still developing as a young back rower he’s already showing what he’s capable of and that there’s more to come.

“He’s a really exciting prospect for the future as well as currently doing a very good job for us. He settled in exceptionally well; it’s like he’s been here for years and he’s the type of player we want to be part of our great club.”

Hughes has made 20 appearances for the club to date, scoring four tries.

He said: “It was a no-brainer for me to extend my contract.

“I am really enjoying my rugby here and to be a part of this club is something I am very proud of.

“The club is going places on and off the field and I want to be involved in that for years to come.”
