A WARRINGTON woman is conquering her fear of heights to do a sky dive in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society
Candice Martin has taken up the challenge of firstly doing a sky dive as well as taking part in a 5k memory walk with her 12-year-old son Harvey to raise money for the charity.
Candice and Harvey hope to raise more than £500.00 by taking part in the Delamere 5k memory walk on September 24  and the sponsored sky dive with Skyline Events team.
She said: “I decided to take part in this challenge for Alzheimer’s Society because my family have suffered tremendously watching our beautiful Nan deteriorate from this awful disease, as I have witnessed other families do so too.
“This lady is a mother, sister, grandmother and a great grandmother who is only 75 and it’s heartbreaking to watch this happen to her. I can no longer sit back and not draw awareness and raise money for Dementia, to assist in providing the care and help they deserve.
“It will be a tough challenge but it’s great to know that I will be raising funds to help support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.”
Jeremy Hughes, chief executive at Alzheimer’s Society, said: “We are delighted that Candice and Harvey are giving their time to support Alzheimer’s Society.
“Some 225,000 people will develop dementia this year – that’s one every three minutes. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Candice and Harvey to help us continue our vital work. Please back Candice and Harvey in their fundraising efforts so that Alzheimer’s Society can continue leading the fight against dementia.”
