PLANS for new boundary fence at Warrington’s Beamont Primary School are to go ahead – but a historic section of the old school wall is to be retained.
Borough planning chiefs have approved the proposals after twice deferring a decision.
There had been concerns that the proposed 2.4 metre high mesh fencing would be out of character with the area in O’Leary Street.
At one time it was proposed to demolish and remove the old walls in their entirety.
But now the section of wall regarded as most important historically will be retained.
The main school building is locally listed and within the grounds of the school there are also a children’s centre and a nursery school. The school site is surrounded by residential property.
