CHESHIRE police have paid tribute to a Special Constable from Warrington who has died, suddenly, at the aged of 22.
Ryan O’Hara died at his home address in Culcheth on Thursday last week.  His funeral will take place at St Lewis’ RC Church, Croft, at 11.30am on Friday, August 5, followed by interment in the grounds of the church.
Floral tributes are welcome, or donations can be made a charity to be nominated by Ryan’s family.
Ryan had been studying as part of the Foundation of Policing Degree at the Warrington Campus of the University of Chester. He had been a Special based in the town since 2014.
Chief Officer of the Special Constabulary Celvyn Jones said: “I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ryan’s sudden death late last week. Our thoughts and condolences are very much with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time. I have met with Ryan’s parents and have seen first hand the love and pride they had for him. It is clear that he will be very much missed by all those who were lucky enough to know him.”
Ryan’s mum Ann said: “We are devastated at what has happened – Ryan’s death has left a huge hole in our lives that can never be filled. It has been a comfort to us over the past few days to hear of messages from his work colleagues and friends. I would like to thank everyone who has been in touch.
“Ryan was so proud to have served as a member of the Special Constabulary – he worked so hard to get to this stage of his life and it was his ultimate dream to become a regular police officer one day. We would talk daily about his role and the challenges he would face and we would often sit up at night talking about his day and going through his training.”
