WARRINGTON Town will be fielding a team full of local young talent when they entertain Crewe United in the annual Peace Cup at Cantilever Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
A young Warrington Town team lost out 2-3 in the annual tournament when they visited the Northern Ireland team last year, after previously winning the trophy 10-0 in 2014.
With the first team squad involved in a pre-season friendly away at Garforth, Warrington, will be fielding a mix of their reserve and youth team, packed with local young talent.
Warrington based players including goalkeeper Josh Cook and strikers Ben Collins and Dylan Glass, who all have first team experience, will line up in a team including other local youngsters, Nathan Butler, Niall Ford, Brad Parker and Joe Coombs.
Admission to the game will be free and the focus will be on a family event, with bouncy castles to entertain children.
Prior to the match there will be a special civic reception hosted by Warrington Borough Council at the town hall on the Friday evening, which as well as hosting the Irish team, will also recognise Warrington Town’s league title success.
Crewe United, who were the first group to visit Warrington following the IRA bombing which claimed the lives of 12-year-old Tim Parry and three-year-old Johnathan Ball, will also have a visit to the peace centre.
The peace cup was instigated by local councillor Mike Hannon, who has helped co-ordinate this year’s event.
