MEMBERS of Warrington Youth Club are presenting a music night tonight (Monday) to help raise awareness for the homeless in Warrington.

The event to highlight and help victims of homelessness in the town is part of the national “Warm Mug War Heart” initiative, takes place at the Tim Parry Community Centre, doors open at 6:30 and Entance fee is £4 for adults and £2 for children.

A Youth Service spokesman said: “As part of our NCS Social Action Project, we have decided to raise money to set up a suspended coffee scheme (tab system) in Warrington coffee shops. We were inspired by Caffè Sospeso, which started in Naples, Italy, about 100 years ago.

“When a customer comes into one of the coffee shops we are collaborating with, they will be able to purchase another item of food or drink which is put on tab for someone less fortunate. This way, the homeless of Warrington can enjoy a warm, comforting drink free of charge.

“Most people would take a simple cup of coffee for granted but for those in need it could make the world of difference.

“We will be fundraising to purchase care packages and sleeping bags to help the homeless by making their lives more comfortable.

“By donating to our cause, you will be sponsoring us to complete 20mile bike ride, and a sponsored swim, as well as supporting those in your community who need it most. Even if it is just a few pounds, or you share our page, we are incredibly grateful.”

Donations can be made online via https://www.facebook.com/warmmugwarmheart/ or go to the show or even better, buy an extra item next time you are in a café, it really can help make a difference.
