PART of Manchester Road, Rixton was closed following a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car.
The road was closed between the motorway roundabout and Warburton toll bridge from 7.15pm to midnight following a collision between a lorry and a car.
The lorry had overturned in a field off Holly Bush Lane at Rixton by Glazebrook.
Firefighters made the scene safe and handed one casualty into the care of paramedics. Police were also at the incident.
The car was unoccupied but the lorry driver had to be rescued from his vehicle and was treated for his injuries at Warrington Hospital
