Radio station to host Mayor’s question time

MAYOR Cllr Faisal Rashid will be helping Warrington’s community radio station celebrate hitting the airwaves at an official “re-launch” party at the Town Hall  tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5pm.
Radio Warrington is celebrating broadcasting on 1332 AM/MW medium wave after being an online-only radio station for the past nine years.
Residents from across the borough will now have the chance to quiz the Mayor about his role and his plans and aspirations for the town as he starts his own regular slot – a Mayor’s Question Time.
The first one will be on Thursday, July 21, at 6pm.
Cllr Rashid said: “It is great news for the radio station to finally get its medium wave broadcasting sorted out.
“It is an important sounding board for the people of Warrington, it is their community station, available to all regardless of age, experience or abilities.
“Residents should remember if they have an event to publicise, opinions on what is happening in the town or national events which may affect Warrington they can now broadcast their say on Radio Warrington.”
The community radio station has been broadcasting Warrington’s news and views for 24 hours a day on the internet since March 2007 and is run and staffed by volunteers.
It moved its studios to Warrington Market last year. Online listeners will still be able to listen on the internet in digital stereo on www.radiowarrington.co.uk
