MAYOR of Warrington Cllr Faisal Rashid was on hand to help officially launch Warrington’s Disability Awareness Week at Golden Square.

On his busiest day of the year so far, with six scheduled events to attend, Cllr Fashid and his Mayoress wife took centre stage in the Old Fish Market to launch a week long list of events, culminating in Disability Awareness Day next Sunday (July 10).

Following the launch there was a whole day of activities which was kick started by the music of Warrington Pipe Band, followed by performances by local musicians.

There was also the popular WDP Tombola which helps raise valuable funds for the charity.

Cllr Rashid, who has chosen WDP as one of his four charities to support during his Mayoral year, said: “The work you do in the local community is fantastic and I am extremely proud to be able to support you during my Mayoral year.”
