WARRINGTON Wolves’ winger Gene Ormsby looks set to be joining Huddersfield Giants after agreeing a three year deal with the club.

Ormsby spent a month on loan at the Giants earlier this season after failing to command a regular first team place at the Wolves, making just five appearances this season, scoring five tries.

Ormsby, aged 23 joined Warrington at the age of 16 from amateur side Oldham St Annes. After spending time as a dual registered player at Swinton, Ormsby made his Super League debut in February 2014 against Leeds.

He enjoyed a successful opening season with the Wolves, scoring 13 tries in 20 first team outings.
Last year he made 14 appearances scoring 11 tries.

Ormsby was due to leave the Wolves at the end of the season but the move may come sooner.

Earlier this month Ormsby hit the headlines when he appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court, after previously pleading guilty to five charges of having a dog dangerously out of control and one of a dog causing injury whilst dangerously out of control. The court ordered him to pay £2,500 in compensation and £7,300 in kennels fees for the dogs’ detention over the past four months, on top of court costs.

This was following an incident in Stalybridge when two elderly dogs were set upon and “savaged” by Ormsby’s pack of five dogs.
