Bomb disposal unit alerted after hand grenade found in home

A BOMB disposal unit attended a property at Stockton Heath, Warrington, when an old hand grenade was discovered during a house clearance.

The hand grenade which was found at a property in Bedford Street looked like the genuine article and was stamped 1917.

A cordon was put on either end of Bedford Street, yesterday afternoon, while an army bomb disposal were called out, but no evacuations took place.

Bomb disposal attended and assessed the device which was found to be a standard 36 Grenade, but an inert or training device and was taken away by them.
