Have-a-go hero tackles knifeman

A HAVE-a-go hero tackled a knifeman as he ran from a Co-op store at Warrington carrying a till.
There was a struggle – but the offender managed to get away from the store in Holes Lane, Woolston, still carrying the cash till.
Now police are appealing for help from the public following the robbery at around 4pm on Thursday, June 16.
The offender entered the store, went straight to the till and asked for cigarettes.
As the shop assistant handed over the cigarettes the man asked for the till to be opened – and the shop assistant realised he was wielding a knife.
There was a brief struggle before the assistance managed to break free and raise the alarm. The offender, meanwhile, jumped over the counter and ran towards the exit carrying the till.
It was then he was tackled by a member of the public but, after another struggle, managed to escape and run off towards Wentworth Avenue, still carrying the till.
The man is described as having dark hair shaved at a number three or four, aged between 30-32, 5 ft 10 inches tall and of a thin build with thin facial features. He was wearing a two tone light and dark blue rain coat with a white emblem on the chest area, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have seen a man carrying a till around the time of the incident or have any further information is asked to contact Cheshire Police quoting incident number 618/16 June.
