FA Cup hero moves on to extend playing career

WARRINGTON’S FA Cup hero Craig Robinson is leaving the club to prolong his playing career at Trafford FC.

Robinson, who headed the winning goal in Warrington’s historic FA Cup first round victory over Exeter City, is said to be “gutted” at leaving the club.

But he realises now aged 35, his chances of playing regular first team football will be limited with Jay McCarten and Daniel O’Donnell forging a successful centre back pairing during last season’s title winning success.

Chairman Toby Macormac said: “Craig Robinson will always be a legend at Warrington Town Football Club for what he has helped us achieve over the past couple of seasons.

“He will be sadly missed by everyone connected with the club. He wants to extended his playing career and believes he will get more opportunity to do this at Trafford. His professionalism on and off the field this season has been exemplary especially with the changes I made mid season.

“We wish him well for the future and he will always be a welcome face at Warrington Town as one of our club legends.”
