Wolves back prisoner job opportunities

WARRINGTON Wolves are calling on other local businesses to follow their lead by offering employment opportunities and jobs to former prisoners as part of their rehabilitation process.

This is a part of the club’s ‘responsible business’ model. The club wishes to encourage other local employers to also take up the opportunity to assist former prisoners on a day release and other employment opportunities.

Professor Steven Broomhead, Chairman of the club, said: “This is a great opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate corporate social responsibility in practice.

“Organisations such as Business in the Community support such schemes which can be life changing. I have first-hand experience of seeing what a difference can be made to people’s lives by giving them a chance. “

The proposal by the Prison Reform Trust to government for employers who provide former prisoners with a job to receive a year-long national insurance holiday, is also welcomed by the club as motivational in its support for responsible businesses and the club will be working alongside organisations such as Timpsons and Recycling Lives to support this excellent idea.
